This brilliant hand-painted tile by artist Debra Piedrafita can be displayed flat or on the wall. Piedrafita paints on glazed ceramic tiles with alcohol ink, a medium she was introduced to by her mother. It is a lesser known variety of ink that is used on nonporous surfaces. This square tile is 4" high by 4" wide.
Piedrafita discovered Taos in 1989 while she was a traveling nurse for the University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque. Her medical background showed her that "there are many paths to healing." She says her artwork is "a form of relaxing meditation, requiring nothing more than paying attention to what is being created in that moment."
