Beautiful three strand oval collar (San Francisco Series) by Masha Archer with royal blue Peking glass rounds, carved stained howelite pumpkins and turquoise tinted howelite discs, all from China. Foil lined green glass rounds from India. Fluted copper rondelles stuffed with acrylic batting, USA. Lead free pewter (30% silver) discs and end beads from India and China. Plated furnishings and two-sister's men 's pocket watch clasp from USA. Coin is a USA buffalo nickle dated 1925.
Masha Archer was born in Kiev, Ukraine to Sophia and Mykola Muchin, both artists and teachers of painting and sculpture at the Kiev and Kharkov Art Institutes. She emigrated to the United States in 1949 and has resided in San Francisco since 1967. She studied at Pratt Institute in NYC, majoring in painting and graphic design. Later she worked as a restorer and exhibitor at the Museo Nacional de Mexico, Mexico City and also designed jewelry and clothing in Tucson and San Francisco. Masha has been the recipient of numerous awards and her work is collected worlwide.
