"Bouquet - 3 Artichokes" Signed Serigraph by Dora Kaminsky
This rare serigraph print entitled Bouquet - 3 Artichokes by Dora Kaminsky is 22" long by 16" wide. Serigraphy, also known as silk screening, screen printing or serigraph printing, is a stencil-based printing process in which ink is forced through a fine screen onto the paper beneath.
Born in Manhattan in 1909, Dora Kaminsky is most known for her serigraphy work. A founding member of the National Serigraph Society, Kaminsky helped cement serigraphy as a fine art, coining the term serigraph from the Greek words seri (silk) and graphy (to write).
In 1944 she decided to take up a summer residency in Taos, New Mexico. After finding some success exhibiting her serigraphs in the West, Kaminsky permanently relocated to Taos in 1954. Her works are included in the Baltimore Museum, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the Honolulu Academy of Art, the Southwest Museum of Los Angeles, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
