Tonto Small Red Jar by Laura Megariz
This exquisite ceramic jar by potter Laura Megariz features a rich, burnished red surface which iscomplemented by a monochromatic diamond motif. Megariz utilizes white micaceous clay to create her pieces, which adds a subtle shine to this jar. This classic Southwestern design is both elegant and minimal, a tasteful addition to any home. Approximately 5.25" tall by 3" in diameter, this jar is for display use only and is not food safe.
Laura Megariz is a native of New Mexico, and now resides with her husband in Ojo Caliente. She is inspired by the pottery of Southwest prehistoric Indian cultures, namely the Quesadas of Nuevos Casas Grandes. Megariz has worked with archaeologists and extensively studied in the archives of the Arizona State Museum. She creates each unique piece by gathering the same materials and using the same coil and scrape techniques employed by Ancestral Pueblo peoples. Each handmade pot is pit-fired in Ojo Caliente, and is intended for display purposes only.
