Because we deeply care for the health and well-being of our patrons and community, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the Taos Art Museum at Fechin House 2020 Gala due to safety concerns surrounding COVID-19.
Originally scheduled to be held August 22, 2020, the decision to cancel our most important fundraiser of the year was not made lightly, as it will have a substantial negative impact on the museum’s financial stability. However, we strongly believe it is in the best interest of you, our patrons.
Our annual gala raises approximately 30% of the museum’s contributed income each year, which goes straight towards the preservation of the historic Fechin House and Studio, our nationally recognized exhibitions, educational experiences, and beloved events.
We need your help now more than ever. We ask that you consider making a gift in lieu of the gala tickets you would have purchased, and/or a contribution you would have made during the gala’s paddle raise. Our goal is to raise $75,000 by July 30. Gifts may be made online here or sent to the museum at 227 Paseo del Pueblo Norte, Taos, NM, 87571.
As our world rapidly changes around us due to these unprecedented times, we are reminded of the power of art to inspire, comfort, and reflect. Your support will help sustain the museum during this critical period and will be much appreciated. It will also ensure we are able to continue engaging and inspiring visitors through personal, in-depth art experiences, the heritage of Nicolai Fechin and the Taos Society of Artists, and the interpretation and preservation of our historical property and grounds.
Along with the Taos Art Museum’s board of directors and gala committee, I thank you for your generosity and support at this at this vital moment. We are looking forward to the day we can once again welcome you through our doors. Until then, stay safe and stay well.
With gratitude and friendship,
Christy Schoedinger Coleman Executive Director Taos Art Museum at Fechin House
