Dear Artists,
The sixth Russian Night in Taos Gala and Auction benefitting the Taos Art Museum will be held on August 28, 2010. Last year's show in the Fechin House was a triumph for local artists. Having their work amidst the beautiful carvings and historic rooms was reminiscent of previous groups of artists showing their work. Our patrons and visitors from around the country were impressed with the quality of the work and the beautiful presentation. It was a success financially, with 83% of artwork selling.

The Board of Directors is very appreciative of you, the artist, and asks you to participate in this year's silent auction. The exposure to high-end collectors from around the country will provide substantial marketing for your art. You also will receive membership to the Museum for one year and a listing in the Gala brochure.

I hope that this advance notice will allow you to prepare an entry for submission to meet a July 15, 2010 deadline. Artwork will be exhibited as early as August 1st to allow tourists as well as local residents to view and submit early bids. There will also be a Buy-It-Now price and if a piece sells prior to the auction, the artist will be invited to submit another piece.

Please submit a digital image of your submission by July 15. You can download an application here, or call to receive an application form by mail.

There will be a Best of Show prize of $500 for an artist!

The artist may receive up to 30% of the proceeds and the remainder will benefit the Taos Art Museum. Remember, the museum not only sustains the legacy of the early Taos artists, it creates and promotes interest in current Taos art. Many artists generously take a very low percentage to cover only their costs. You may select a reserve and/or starting bid but too high a starting price discourages bidders so I encourage you to consider a modest reserve.
